Ryan Gravenberch is in for Liverpool’s match against Fulham, and Mohamed Salah is out.
Mohamed Salah has been left off of Liverpool’s starting lineup, which is set to play Fulham in a short while. These are the groups that a few of our writers would have chosen.
Liverpool knew going into this weekend that it would probably need to win six out of six games in order to have any chance of capturing the Premier League title.
While Manchester City was playing in the FA Cup on Saturday, Arsenal defeated Wolves, and the quality of play hasn’t really improved.
Later on in the day, Jürgen Klopp’s team must find a way to defeat Fulham. After that, it must defeat Wolves, Aston Villa, West Ham United, Everton, and Spurs.
Naturally, Manchester City might still be in the lead by that point. The Reds sit two points ahead of Brighton, Nottingham Forest, Wolves, Fulham, Spurs, or West Ham, and they are depending on one of those teams to win.
But Liverpool, to use a cliche, can only think about itself. The first step is to defeat Fulham, and following the little victory over Atalanta in the Europa League, some intriguing choices regarding the starting lineup had to be made.
After four straight games without a particularly impressive showing, Klopp has made the necessary adjustments, with the team news confirmed.
This might mean resting or dropping players. The main story is that Mohamed Salah has been benched, and the midfield also has a different appearance.
It’s a bold choice, albeit not necessarily an incorrect one, with the title still very much within sight as things stand.
These are the lineups that a few of the writers at Liverpool.com would have chosen to take on Fulham.
Liverpool’s confirmed starting lineup against Fulham is as follows: Alisson; Endō, Elliott, Gravenberch; Gakpo, Jota, Díaz; Alexander-Arnold, Quansah, Van Dijk, Robertson.
Matt Addison – Cody Gakpo starts again
I will like to see as little rotation as much as possible at this point in the season.
This week does indeed have three games, but Liverpool must win each and every one of them. If the Reds can recall how to do it, they should make adjustments when they are ahead by a few goals.
The back four should remain the same, and Alisson Becker will start in goal, in my opinion.
The rest of the back five should stay the same as it did on Thursday, with the possible exception of Jarell Quansah starting here instead of at Goodison Park if Ibrahima Konaté has played too much lately.
Likewise, I can envision a case being made for Harvey Elliott to into the midfield. However, I’m going to choose Dominik Szoboszlai once more.
The other best midfield players for the Reds are Curtis Jones and Alexis Mac Allister, both of whom performed admirably in Bergamo.
Salah remains in the attack for me. Being left on the bench would only benefit the Fulham squad because he possesses the ability to be a threat at all times.
Darwin Núñez could make a stronger case to start ahead of Luis Díaz, but I’ll keep Cody Gakpo on the bench. It would be necessary for Núñez or Díaz to play off the left.
My starting lineup is as follows:Alisson, Mac Allister, Jones, Alexander-Arnold, Konaté, Van Dijk, Robertson; Salah, Gakpo, Díaz
Liverpool is predicted to win 2-1.
One item to keep an eye out for is Mohamed Salah’s goal and return to form.
Diogo Jota – Liam Prenderville receives the approval
Liverpool has a big week ahead of them, so Klopp may need to consider his options for using his team over the next six days. One thing is for sure, though: his team needs to defeat Fulham on Sunday.
After suffering an injury on Thursday night, Trent Alexander-Arnold played 70 minutes in Italy and emerged unharmed, but I believe Joe Gomez will start here for Klopp.
In centre defence, Jarell Quansah is also replacing Ibrahima Konaté.
Although Klopp has a plethora of alternatives in midfield and attack, I will start Wataru Endō and force Alexis Mac Allister to play higher forward with Dominik Szoboszlai.
After making an impression against Atalanta, Cody Gakpo certainly deserves to preserve his spot. I believe Mohamed Salah and Diogo Jota will join him in the Liverpool attack.
Darwin Núñez and Luis Díaz are thus great alternatives to start off the bench.
