Friday Is the First Day of the NCAA Tournament for No. 8 Men’s Tennis.
At the Philip and Cheryl Milstein Family Tennis Centre on Friday at 1 p.m., the eighth-seeded Columbia men’s tennis team will take on Quinnipiac to start their 2024 NCAA Tournament run.
Columbia, the eighth-ranked team in the country, is still making history by being the first Ivy League squad to ever be ranked in the top eight of the NCAA Tournament.
With two victories this weekend, Columbia will host its sixth regional in the last ten years and might host a super regional for the first time in its history.
“Our players have worked incredibly hard throughout their careers to earn this incredible opportunity,” stated Bidyut K. Goswami, Head Coach of Men’s Tennis Howard Endelman ’87CC.
Columbia went 20-3 overall and 6-1 in Ivy League play at the end of the regular season. The Lions won their last six games of the regular season to secure the Ivy League championship for the 17th time in programme history. Columbia won its first championship under head coach Howard Endelman ’87CC.
On Friday afternoon, the Lions will take on Quinnipiac in the opening round. In the championship game, the Bobcats defeated Fairfield 4-2 to win the MAAC title for the first time ever. Quinnipiac is 14-10 overall this year and went 5-1 in conference play.

First match: Binghamton vs. Michigan, 10 a.m.
Columbia vs. Quinnipiac, second match, 1 p.m.
Match 3: Winner of Match 2 takes on Winner of Match 1 at 1 p.m. on Saturday, May 4.
