The Sporting boss has been informed by Liverpool that Rúben Amorim “will leave at the end of the season.
“Amorim is the front-runner to succeed Jürgen Klopp at Liverpool. It is now being reported in Portugal that he may be leaving Sporting CP at the end of the current campaign.
According to sources in Portugal, Rúben Amorim is set to depart from Sporting CP at the end of the current season. This summer, the 39-year-old is the front-runner to replace Jürgen Klopp at Liverpool.
Back in January, Klopp declared his intention to retire at the end of the season. Prior to Amorim taking the lead, Xabi Alonso was considered the favourite to replace him. In recent weeks, there have been conflicting stories on the future of Sporting.
However, Amorim refuted the existence of any prior arrangement with Liverpool. Furthermore, he has continued to make insinuations that he would be inclined to remain in Lisbon.
Not that the former Portugal international has ruled out leaving Sporting this summer. With five games left, his team leads Benfica by seven points, and he appears certain to win a second Primeira Liga championship with the team this year.
Sporting president Frederico Varandas is optimistic that he can persuade Amorim to remain with the team this summer, according to Portuguese publication O Jogo. Varandas is rumoured to have not even thought about possible successors as of yet, although Portuguese football analyst Pedro Sepúlveda has asserted that Amorim will depart the team at season’s conclusion, regardless of Sporting’s championship victory.
As stated by @ojogo, Federico Varandas, the President of SportingCP, wants to keep Rúben Amorim at Sporting, but there is no chance. At the end of the season, Amorim will go from Sporting, Sepúlveda announced on X. Amorim is Liverpool’s top target, he continued, and he “likes the project.”
In spite of Sepúlveda’s assertion, the ECHO has proposed that Liverpool is still in the screening phase of their manager hunt. Furthermore, if Michael Edwards thinks they can usher in a new era of prosperity, the club is not ruling out making a “left-field appointment.”
According to Liverpool, Amorim is the undisputed favourite among Liverpool supporters and may be the most notable contender left in the running among the names that have been connected. However, it’s likely that until the end of the season, we won’t hear back from him definitively.
That implies that during the coming weeks, there will likely be a lot more reports that contradict one another. The name of Liverpool’s new manager won’t be revealed for long, though, as Klopp has just six games left before he departs Anfield.
