When Jürgen Klopp asks a reporter about Man City, he says he “can’t ask for more” from Liverpool.

Jürgen Klopp, the manager of Liverpool, was pleased with his team’s victory over Fulham. However, he declined to overtake Man City and Arsenal in the race.

After a terrible two weeks, Liverpool ended their run at the top of the Premier League table with a much-needed 3-1 victory over Fulham. While the improved performance was undoubtedly the most encouraging factor, the outcome was even more significant since it kept the Reds in the running for the championship.

Liverpool has played one more game than Manchester City, so the lead may not last long. Next up for Pep Guardiola’s team is a match on Wednesday following the Merseyside derby.

Arsenal, meanwhile, continues to lead on goal differential. But Klopp’s team managed to keep things very much in the balance by not giving up any more points.

Klopp was happy with his team’s performance. After the game, he praised a solid performance given how soon after the match in Bergamo it had occurred.

“We won our last two away games, can I ask for more?” Klopp pondered. “We played really well, with the exception of the final ten minutes of the first half. The boys’ football game was excellent.

We’ve had a lot more difficulties here in the past. We performed considerably better today. We enjoyed the game a lot, but scoring goals is the most important thing.”

But Klopp downplayed the chance to put further pressure on Manchester City by winning the Merseyside derby in the middle of the week.

With Liverpool scheduled to visit Brighton the next evening, a win at Goodison Park would, at the very least, temporarily put them four points ahead.

“I get ‘scoreboard pressure’ but do you think Man City care?” Klopp questioned the journalist. “I don’t give a damn.

We give ourselves too much attention. I say all I believe will be helpful, but I’m not sure if this will be helpful.

“This is a very difficult game. We play Everton, which isn’t your typical match. We’ll try it even if it will be challenging.”

Trent Alexander-Arnold’s manager might not agree with him all the time.

He acknowledged that the competitors are monitoring each other’s performance and speculated that Arsenal may have lost last weekend due to pressure to make up for Liverpool’s missed points.

In any case, it can’t harm. Liverpool just needs to keep scoring goals and hope that Manchester City makes a mistake somewhere.

Although the match against Everton has all the makings of a torturous affair, Klopp can now concentrate on figuring out how to win.

According to Liverpool.com, Manchester City has a history of close championship races and has never really cared which order it finishes in.

The back-and-forth victories that Liverpool and us had in previous seasons are the stuff of legends and nightmares.

Although Klopp will never acknowledge it, this is undoubtedly the slightly better course of events.

Liverpool will be able to apply more pressure, which cannot be detrimental. It must first win a Merseyside derby, though, as the neighbours will undoubtedly be eager to support it in the championship match.
